The Opportunity

 

An opportunity has become available for the Head of EHS at VENTORA Group. As a member of the extended leadership team, the Head of EHS is directly responsible for EHS and Workers Compensation functions and proactively leads, directs, supports, and encourages a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility. This is a hands-on role where you will spend as much time partnering with the VENTORA leadership team advising on technical and regulatory issues as you will consulting with the various divisions and operations.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve and execute a safety strategy for raising safety performance.
  • Drive a culture where employees are aligned with VENTORA safety values.
  • Lead, Support, and develop the geographically dispersed WHSE team (currently 4 direct).
  • Further develop and implement WHSE policies, plans, programs, and systems.
  • Analyse safety performance, make recommendations and drive improvement.
  • Lead and participate in the safety communication operating cadence as well as major safety incident investigations.
  • Partner with Operational Management to facilitate effective WHSE leadership.
  • Apply WHSE systems that drive and influence ongoing cultural change.
  • Maintain and retain WHSE accreditation and ensure assurance activities meet relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and maintain the worker's compensation function which includes self-insurance across NSW and progressing to self-insurance in Victoria.
  • Manage the process for compliance audits, self-audits, and action item tracking.

 

About You 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications - MBA or master’s qualification (highly desirable).
  • Manufacturing or similar complex industry experience (highly desirable).
  • Experience in multi-national business and geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Proven experience leading, organising, planning, and controlling a WHSE function.
  • An influencer with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
  • Experience communicating strategy, direction, and reasoning behind key decisions.
  • Solid working knowledge of WHSE technical & legislative requirements.
  • Understands the need for a practical approach to WHSE.
  • Experience in implementing change and fostering a WHSE-focused culture.
