About our Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Group General Manager, The National EHS Manager is tasked with leading the operational implementation of A&L's regional EHS requirements, in-line with the wider VENTORA Group processes. This role is based at our 400 employee Dandenong South manufacturing facility and oversees facilities in Heatherbrae, NSW 20 employees and Staplyton, QLD 200 employees. You will also lead a small team of EHS & RTW Advisors.

 

This role is responsible for facilitating and influencing the active engagement of managers in the research, development and implementation planning of safety and other related programs to meet A&L's business plans and VENTORA corporate goals. This is a hands-on role where you will spend as much time in the office as you will on the plant floor providing contemporary specialist EHS advice and coaching. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Encourage the identification, implementation, and communication of EHS initiatives
  • EHS advice, support and guidance assisting in meeting responsibilities under relevant EHS legislation.
  • Lead EHS management systems and associated internal and external audits
  • Develop and deliver formal and informal EHS training.
  • Conduct incident investigations for significant incidents and near misses.
  • Coach and mentor EHS team, HSR’S and safety committee members.
  • Champion and participate in national EHS initiatives.  

 

About You 

 

You are a Safety Manager passionate about promoting safety in the workplace and enjoy coaching and mentoring - specifically around safety behaviors, accountability for safety and integrating EHS performance into lean production environments. Experience leading a small EHS team, is a must. Our preference is to find someone who has experience in a manufacturing business working with operations employees. 

 

Ideally, you will have: 

  • Diploma level EHS qualification or equivalent, essential  
  • Cert 4 Workplace training and assessment skills, preferable
  • Experience in multi-site business and geographically dispersed workforce
  • Solid working knowledge of WHSE technical & legislative requirements
  • Experience in implementing change and fostering WHSE-focused culture
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
